SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING
We, the ones who start new liturgical year,
what do we have at our disposal – we, the apostles of humanity?
Palms burnt from searching for baked potatoes in a campfire.
Feet – trampling on the sticks that are still aglow.
Knees and elbows scraped in a blind escape.
Lips parched from staring into the rising sun.
Eyes tired from looking out for desert islands.
Hearing blunted by the silence of the desert.
Voice rasped from yelling in the crowded city streets.
Heart weakened from longing for love.
Dying conviction of God's love towards us, people.
But despite all, the desire for faith, hope and love
Still burns within us – this is what remains for us.
The only honest thing.
