I powątpiewali

     Przecież doszło do nich to, co się wydarzyło w Kafarnaum. Jakie cuda Jezus tam uczynił. Gdy przyszedł do Nazaretu, to powinni Mu bramę triumfalną postawić, z kwiatami przywitać, mowy wygłosić, oddać Mu cześć.
     A oni wypomnieli Jezusowi, że jest cieślą, a nie nauczycielem. „Skąd On to ma? Co za mądrość, która jest Mu dana? I takie cuda, które dzieją się przez Jego ręce. (…) Jest przecież Synem Marii. Bratem Jakuba, Józefa, Judy i Szymona. Żyją w Nazarecie jeszcze Jego siostry. I powątpiewali o Jezusie”.

     But they’ve heard about what happened in Capernaum; what kind of miracles Jesus performed.  When He came back to Nazareth, they should have put up a triumphal gate for Him, they should have welcomed Him with flowers, delivered speeches, they should have paid homage to Him.
     But instead they reminded Him that He was a carpenter, not a teacher.  “Where did He get all this?  What is this wisdom that has been given to him?  What deeds of power are being done by his hands!  (…) Isn’t He Mary’s son; a brother of James and Joseph and Jude and Simon, aren’t His sisters still living in Nazareth?  And they were doubtful about Jesus”.
