Third Sunday of Ordinary Time
He probably did not expect at all that they would react in such way to the truth, which he had revealed to them. And they went at him, they hauled Him out of Synagogue, dragged Him to the edge of the rock face ready to push Him off.
How much He needed those words, which He had heard from God during His baptism in Jordan: "You are my beloved Son". How much He had to hold on to them not to doubt in His mission.
God says to each and every one of us: "You are my beloved son". And we need these words, especially when the enemies pounce at us and drag us towards a precipice, especially when we are left alone, especially when we are sick, or old and helpless. Then we have to go back to those words "You are my beloved son" and believe in them with all our might, and in them persevere.
