22nd Sunday of Ordinary Time
"Do not think about what is God's"
We value spontaneity, authenticity, courage and categorical character. We are soldiers, not politicians. Besides, politicizing always seems suspicious to us. It suggests deceit, trickery, hypocrisy, opportunism, weakness, fear, and perversity.
But truly, politicizing means thinking ahead. Not one day or one week ahead, but months and years ahead. It is obligatory in family life, in the work place, in the country and especially in international life.
We are not going to move to the Moon. We will be living between two powers: Germany and Russia. We have to keep making friends. Gestures of good will are constantly necessary for that; with all the respect for ourselves and also with all the respect or our neighbors. Without splitting hairs, raising trivial objections, pointing out mistakes -- which can always happen. The strong ties of mutual understanding have to rise beyond that.
