Presentation of the Lord

"Your salvation"

We look around - forward, backward, to the left, to the right.  So many Christian denominations: Catholics, Orthodox, Lutherans, Anglicans, Calvinists, Early Catholics, Polish Catholics, Baptists, to just name a few.
We have religious wars on our conscience.  We have mutual persecutions on our conscience.  We have condemnations and excommunications on our conscience.
Even today we can hear the shouts from all directions:  "We are more Christian than you, because we better understand the texts of the Gospel!"  "We are more Christian than you, because our presbyters say better sermons than yours."
But, truly what is the test?  What is the gauge?
Jesus said:  "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another"
There's no other gauge, no other trial -- just this one.
If we look at the other denominations with contempt, maybe even with hatred, with disrespect or even ridicule - than there's no love within us.
We ought to respect one another, because respect is contained in the concept of love. We have to shake hands with the Orthodox, Lutherans, Anglicans, Calvinists, Baptists, Early Catholics, and all the other Christian denominations however many there are, and say: "We are brothers." But, say it without any implied meaning, without any false tone, without any interest.  We are brothers because we believe in the same God, who created us out of love, and in God's Word, who is Jesus Christ, and who teaches us how to live in love.
