November 20, 2009 FRIDAY
Crowd listened to him
We looked at Rafał Kalinowski as a man of important personal decisions. A Polish man – he enrolls in Moscow’s school for officers. He becomes Russian officer, engineer who builds railroads. January Uprising breaks out. He resigns his military service and totally devotes himself to the Uprising, even though he knows it’s a lost cause. He is imprisoned, sentenced to death, pardoned – sentenced to 10 years of hard labor in Siberia. After serving his sentence he goes to Paris. He becomes Adam’s teacher in Czartoryski house. He returns home, joins Carmelites. He carries out reform of the order, while coping with huge problems and difficulties. Life filled with great decisions, important personal solutions.
